Alkali Wash

A Pre-Clean and Alkali Wash requires eliminating the foreign mater such as grease and swarf from the pipe internals.  New installations will normally contain grease, swarf and debris that will have gathered in the pipework during the production or assembly.

This grime and foreign matter must be eradicated before a system is put into service, the grime may imbed itself in a valve, meter or a probe on the line causing costly damage. A Pre-Clean and Alkali Wash requires eliminating the foreign mater such as grease and swarf from the pipe internals.

The pipework is initially flushed with water; this will remove any swarf and loose grime in the line. An Alkali solution containing a detergent and surfactant is re-circulated throughout the system, the alkalinity will then break down the oil and grease and the surfactant disperses it.

New Boilers should be pre-cleaned and de-greased prior to being brought on line. This will trigger the ejection any foreign matter that might cause damage while in operation.

Also hot water pipework on closed loop systems such as domestic hot water heating systems should be pre-flushed and degreased.

Clarwick Ltd offers a full pre-clean service. This includes flushing to remove the debris and swarf followed by an alkali wash to eradicate any grease.
